A teacher put a problem before students of class IV.
Add 400+7
A student has done it in the following way
400+7 = 4007
Another student has done in following manner
400+7 = 1100
What prerequisite knowledge might students not have?
What kind of questions can be asked to students to address their misconception?

The wrong calculation shows the ignorance of learners in Place Value. To correct it Pictorial Descriptions will be much, more useful to the learners.

Student lac pre requisite knowledge skills .. Even when students have effectively learnt the new material being tested on an exam,they may perform poorly if relevant ,pre requisite knowledge is week or lacking.
ReplyDeleteIt is clearly important the teachers be aware of the their students misconceptions about in order to success fully facilitate progression.
It is wrong calculation, It comes to know that the teacher was not observe understand of student at the time of teaching , So the students perfom poorly.
ReplyDeleteबच्चों के द्वारा उक्त प्रश्न के दिए गए उत्तर से ज्ञात होता है कि बच्चों को प्लेस वैल्यू का ज्ञान नहीं है साथ ही पूर्व ज्ञान से पूरी तरह से परिचित नहीं है। इस तरह से बच्चों में विकसित हुए गलत धारणा को ठीक करने के लिए प्रश्नों को अलग रूपों में भी पूछा जा सकता है

4+70=74
4+700=704
इस तरह से स्टेप वाइज बच्चों को सिखाना पड़ेगा जोड़ने की विधि को। ऐसी स्थिति में शिक्षक को विशेष ध्यान देना पड़ेगा कि विद्यार्थी सही विधि से उसे समझ पा रहे हैं कि नहीं। अगर नहीं समझ पा रहे हैं तो उसे मूर्त रूप में विभिन्न तरीकों से बच्चों को शिक्षक को समझाना होगा तभी वह गणित का सही ज्ञान प्राप्त कर सकेंगे ।
Lack of knowledge of place value table. It can be corrected by familiarise the children with place value table.

ReplyDeleteबच्चों को गणित के बारे में ज्यादा जानकारी नहीं है । बच्चों को जोड़ना, घटना भाग देना गुणा करना आदि सभी प्रकिया को उदाहरण के साथ कैसे जोड़ना , घटाना, गुणा करना, भाग देना आदि को समझाना पड़ेगा। तभी बच्चों में समझ विकसित होगी।

ReplyDeleteTeacher should teach his/ her students “Place value” in Mathematics interestingly that describes the position or place of a digit in a number. Each digit has a place in a number. When we represent the number in general form, the position of each digit will be expanded. Those positions start from a unit place or we also call it one’s position. The order of place value of digits of a number of right to left is units, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousand, a hundred thousand, and so on.
ReplyDeleteStudent have no knowledge of Ones Tens Hundreds..... Students are often able to use algorithms to solve numerical problems . Besides offering students information and helpful examples, we must show them the reasoning processes that lead to algorithms and conceptual generalizations. Inclusion of conceptual questions on tests is another way to emphasize the importance of this aspect of problem solving .

ReplyDeleteAt Primary level a learner is new at learning ,It is expected that he knows numbers and it's various types.
ReplyDeleteThe teacher should corelate his knowledge of numbers and try to make his lessons more interesting before teaching him addition and deletion...he should be given knowledge of place value of digits...like unit,Tens ,Hundred,Thousand ,Ten Thousand and so on....
Then he should be given knowledge of different symbols used in Mathematics at primary level ...viz. +,-,X,÷etc.
Thereafter a teacher can raise questions like ..
Add the following terms.:
444+4
Ans. The learner is now having knowledge of number system and place value can easily solve the equation....
Now if he responds by adding 4 in 444
The equation we get
444+4=448
Ones=8
Tens=40
Hundred=400
The teacher by applying different tools can make his topic more interesting and understandable for ultimate learning outcomes in particular class .

At level of IV class Students will not understood how to place value and how can add that numbers. So as a Teacher give them another example for it.

विधार्थी को स्थानीयमान का ज्ञान आवश्यक है। यदि विद्यार्थी को 400 पेन + 7 पेन =सवाल देने पर यदि वह अपनी गलती को समझ पा रहा है तो उसे. अंक तथा जो ड़ को व्यवहारिकज्ञान से जोड़ के देख पा रहा है। . गलती नहीं समझ पा रहा है तो वह अंक तथाजोड़ना को गणितीयज्ञान तथायोग की संक्रिया के रूप से ही सीखने का प्रयास कर रहा है अंक तथा जोड़ जो कि गिनने की प्रक्रिया तथा व्यवहारिक ज्ञान से जोडकर समझाना आवश्यक हो जाता है।

सबसे पहली बात सभी ने बहुत अच्छे ढंग से उपर अपनी बात लिखी है
ReplyDeleteनिश्चित रूप से छात्र को इकाई , दहाई , सैकडा आदि प्लेस वैल्यू को समझ में कमी है जिसके कारण जोड में गलती हो रही है
उनसे उनकी परिणाम का आकलन स्वयं करवाना चाहिए इससे संबंधित प्रश्न हो सकते है
जैसे हम क्या कर रहे है छात्रों का जवाब आयेगा
सर हम जोड रहे है
हम कितना जोड रहे है
इसके लिए हम बच्चो से मौखिक प्रश्न पूछकर एक्टिविटी करवा सकते है

ReplyDeleteAll three types of answer given to students of class four in the manner of add/plus is true for students because it is the different types of arithmatics using addition. All are true but in the manner of right way teacher should be clear out that in addition one type of answer is to be(407) also. In playing form we can learnt the question of arirhmatics. Algebra. Angle. etc.

ReplyDeleteगणित के बुनियादी शिक्षण मे से एक है स्थानीय मान, यदि छात्रों को इससे संबंधित कुछ कार्य दिए जाएं तो स्थानीय मान के संबंध में उनकी जानकारी प्राप्त की जा सकती है और उचित उदाहरण के माध्यम से इसे समझाया जाए तो छात्र इसे सही तरीके से और आसानी से सीख पाएंगे।

ReplyDeleteMay be the student know place value of 5 in 526 i.e. 500 bt I think he doesn't know how to put the values according ones,tens ,hundreds in addition as operator. that's why teacher should clear this misconceptions because student need enough practice .after that the student will be able to manipulate correctly.

उक्त सवाल का हल से स्पष्ट है कि छात्रों को गणित में स्थानीय मान का ज्ञान नहीं है ।उन्हें सर्वप्रथम इकाई, दहाई सैकड़ा और हजार की संख्या से अवगत कराना चाहिए तत्पश्चात योग करना, घटाना,गुणा करना और भाग देना इसे सिखाना चाहिए। तब छात्र उचित उत्तर देंगे । धन्यवाद।
